You sure didn't miss much-especially when Wyrick's Indians were beating his bunch (Wyrick was somewhere around 25+ -2 vs him). I reckon the only thing he got done there was to butt heads with Jimbo over the grass lol.

Burton is so wise- The little league is where it is at. Course when we are up against WIZARDS of the sporting world , what chance do we have? It is like some Appy folks not understanding why Tom didn't change things- sometimes you don't have the people at at a 200 kid school. Yeah, it was a great run- but sometimes you run out of kids.

It is funny I was over at the "midnight madness" hit night for the football team on whatever date that was a couple of weeks ago and I was sitting in the guest bleachers and looked back at the baseball field. I told a buddy of mine that Mack Shupe must be leaving and he asked why, I told him to look at the infield and that should tell you. You could barely tell there was any dirt there, he has just let it go.

I just never liked the cat, he needs a filter leading from his brain to his mouth.

Shupe was a good coach, regardless of what people think of him personally.

You can't deny the accomplishments the man has. Yeah, he had great players and coaches, but you have to give Shupe credit for having the sense to bring guys like Stinson and Bates back to help coach.

As for the job he did at Norton, he may not have brought them a state title like he said he would, but he brought the program up from a bottom feeder up to a team that was competitive.

I have talked to him on a few occassions over the past few years and there is no denying his knowledge for the game. Think what you want of him as a person, there have been times I disagree with and couldn't stand him, but he did know his stuff.

Guys, give the man his dues. While he might not of been the best baseball coach around he was still extremely smart by keeping Stinson and Bates around to help at coaching. When it is all said and done the man retires with 8 state championships and numerous lpd and region titles. That is about 8 more state championships than anyone on this forum. Most people who responded in this thread hasnt won anything comparable to Shupe.
